Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) is accepting admission for the Asian Development Bank-Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP). This scholarship program is provided for Master degree programs in the field study of economics, business & management, and science & technology.

Who is eligible to apply for this scholarship?

  • Citizens of one of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) member countries (including Afghanistan, Armenia, Australia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Georgia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kiribati, Kyrgyz Republic, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Marshall Islands, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nauru, Nepal, New Zealand, Niue, Pakistan, Palau, Papua New Guinea, China, Korea, Philippines, Samoa, Singapore, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, Taipei, Tajikistan, Timor-Leste, Tonga, Turkmenistan, Tuvalu, Uzbekistan, Vanuatu, Vietnam, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom, and the United States).
  • Students with a bachelor’s degree and two years of working experience after graduation
  • Students that are currently 35 years old or less (except for programs that are related to senior officials and managers, applicants not more than 45 years old are allowed to apply)
  • Students with the ability to understand and communicate in written and spoken English proved by English proficiency test score minimum 6 in writing and overall (IELTS) or 550 (TOEFL) or 6,0 (AIT EET)
  • Students that are healthy physically and mentally
  • Students that have not pursued or are currently enrolled in other master degrees
  • Students who have never studied abroad previously
  • Students that are committed to coming back to their country of origin after completing their study
  • Students that are not currently working at AIT or ADB

What is the criteria of selection?

The selection will focus on the applicants’ merit, but the committee will prioritize:

  • Women applicants
  • Applicants with less income

What degrees are offered in this scholarship?

The scholarship is provided for the Master of Arts (MA), Master of Science (MS), and Master of Business Administration (MBA) programs that is provided at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in the economics, business & management, science & technology, and other related fields of study.

How long is the duration of scholarship?

The scholarship will be given for the duration of the program (two years) as long as the awardees can maintain their achievement in the first year of study

How to apply?

  • Read the application guidelines by the Asian Development Bank and also the eligible study program guidebook released by the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT).
  • Make sure you have met all of the eligibility requirements before applying
  • Apply for the eligible study program at AIT before the closing date of application and indicate that you want to be considered for the Asian Development Bank-Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP)

What documents need to be prepared to apply for this scholarship?

  • Copy of undergraduate degree certificate
  • Copy of undergraduate transcript for 4 years
  • English proficiency score certificate
  • Income statement (including the parent or spouse income statement)
  • Work certificate released by the employer
  • ADB-JSP information sheet
  • Latest income tax return or certification of annual/monthly salary

How does the process of selection go?

  • AIT will select and rank applicants based on the selection criteria while also making sure that the applicants meet the eligibility requirements
  • Some applicants might be contacted by AIT
  • Ranked applicants will be reviewed by Asian Development Bank (ADB) based on ADB’s selection criteria and eligibility requirements
  • If approved by the Executive Director of Japan, ADB will inform the successful applicants to AIT
  • AIT will inform all selected applicants regarding their acceptance and further information about the scholarship
  • Selected applicants will also receive a congratulations letter from ADB

When is the deadline for application?

The admission process will be closed on 31 March 2024.
