The renowned former Ghanaian player Mohammed Polo will represent his country at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, according to Kurt E.S. Okraku, president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

On Saturday night in Accra, he revealed this at the official book launch for Polo, “Polo The Magnificent: The tale of the Dribbling Magician.”

The all-expenses paid trip by the GFA, in accordance with the GFA’s president, will serve as the FA’s expression of gratitude to the illustrious former footballer.

The one and only professor Mohammed Ahmed “Polo” will accompany us as we travel to the Mundial to support our beloved Black Stars and make our country great and powerful.

Mohammed Polo will be traveling with us to Qatar as our way of saying thank you. We will say “thank you” when you do your part and make a sacrifice for our beloved nation.

He continued, “His memory will live on with many generations of our beloved country and Africa as a whole.”

While playing for Accra Hearts of Oak in the 1970s and 1980s, Polo became a household name in Ghanaian football. Additionally, he played a crucial role in the Black Stars squad that captured the 1978 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Due to his outstanding play, the 65-year-old was nominated for the 1977 African Footballer of the Year award.

The “Dribbling Magician” during his playing days, Polo is recognized as one of the greatest players to ever represent Ghana.

In a career spanning 20 years, he amassed over 50 international caps and scored 20 goals for Ghana. Mohammed “Polo” formerly served as a coach for the Accra Great Olympics, Accra Hearts of Oak, and the Malian team Stade Malien.
